Confirmation at All Saints' Church Leamington Spa
'Confirm, O Lord, your servant (name) with your Holy Spirit.'
So prays the Bishop as he lays his hands on the head of the person being confirmed. Confirmation is a formal public affirmation of the promises made for us by our Godparents when we were baptised. It's the time when we pray for the confirmation of the Holy Spirit's work in our lives. And it's the normal rite of passage after which we receive Holy Communion. Nowadays many candidates for Confirmation are adults, although children from the age of ten or eleven onwards are welcome too. Preparation takes the form of meeting together with other candidates to develop our understanding of Christian faith; and of course participation in the life and worship of the church both beforehand and afterwards is also essential. Further information and frequently asked questions can be found on the Church of England website. If you would like to prepare for Confirmation at All Saints' (or join in the preparation to refresh and deepen your faith) please get in touch using the form below as soon as possible. |
